Despite making substantial progress on this endeavor over time, creating a considerable number of pieces and discarding others along the way, the project has proven to be a formidable challenge. He describes it as more of a curse than a dream, as he is cognizant of the fact that he may not be able to complete it. However, he embraces the idea that the work can take on a life of its own, and is open to the unknown outcome of the Chess Gambit project.
